About me
Paul began practicing yoga in 2002 and has maintained a passionate practice ever since. His background in performance gives him profound appreciation for the intricacy of the form that yoga affords. His elegance and grace shines through his postures and the execution of his teaching. Paul’s pursuit of a more spiritual practice led him to Karuna Center for Yoga and Healing Arts in 2011, where he feels blessed to have found such a welcoming and open community. It was at this time that Paul met his primary teacher, and then director, Eileen Muir, whom he studied with intensely for 7 years. In addition to regular classes, Paul completed over 1,000 hours of yoga teacher training and shiatsu education with Eileen. He will forever be grateful to Eileen for providing him a life of Yoga.
In 2018, Paul assumed the role of director of Karuna Center for Yoga and Healing Arts. He will forever be honored by this designation and the pleasures of sharing his exploration in the practices of yoga.
Paul is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and is dedicated to teaching and learning this commanding style of Yoga. He has mentored with Marla Apt and is a current mentee of Jessica Becker. He continues to study regularly with Iyengar Yoga teachers including Patricia Walden, Peter Scott, and more. Paul believes that asana (yoga postures) are a doorway to move more deeply into understanding and that pranayama, meditation, and the study of yoga texts are essential practices that further this understanding.
Paul has a fervor for education. In 2011 he completed his Master’s degree in Adult Education and Training. Paul continues his studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shiatsu with established teachers.
