About me
Erin McKay's yoga journey began in graduate school, when classmates raved about how great they felt after heated power yoga classes. Desperate for the same relief from academic stress, she gave it a try — and spent the entire hour convinced she was about to faint. She didn't return. It wasn't until she moved to the North Shore in 2011, deep in marathon training, that yoga finally stuck. She started showing up at Treetop Yoga to stretch after long runs, and somewhere along the way, the practice became something much more. After the birth of her fourth child, yoga replaced running as both a physical outlet and a rare pocket of stillness in a full and noisy life.Inspired by her instructors at Treetop, Erin completed her 200-hour teacher training and became an owner of the studio within a year. She went on to earn her 300-hour certification with Jacqui Bonwell. Today she teaches a range of styles — vinyasa, sculpt, restorative, and yin — with a particular love for arm balances and alignment work. Drawing on her background as a science educator, she brings the same curiosity and care to the mat that she brings to the classroom.Erin leads international yoga retreats throughout the year, bringing students to destinations near and far to deepen their practice off the beaten path. Whether in a studio in Gloucester or on a hillside in Tuscany, her teaching is rooted in the same intention: to help every student find what resonates — and to remember that everyone starts somewhere.
